So, pursuing a career in Nursing in Australia is one of the best decisions anyone can make. It’s not only a profession that gives you a lot of money or reputable name in society but it has great scope to grow.
How to start if you have no background in Medical Field and unsure if this will suit your lifestyle and mindset?
If you want to be a nurse, always start from Certificate iii in Aging support. This will allow you to work in aged care or to go to people’s homes who are aged enough to do their daily chores.
Do certificate iii/iv in Disability support. This will allow you to go to people’s homes who have chronic disabilities. These people can be of any age. Some of the hiring agencies for aged care also hire people with Disability Certificates or vice versa.
Once a person finishes relevant course, start finding jobs. The tip here is to apply in same-aged care from where you did your 100 hours placement from. After getting a job, ask your aged care to get your 1-day training done for Endorsed medicines which will help you to take one step forward to your career. That one-day training will let you give medicines to residents in aged care, prescribed by doctors. Actually this work has usually been done by Endorsed Enrolled Nurse (Diploma of Nursing + Medicine training) but most of the aged care gives this training to their staff to save the cost of EEN.
PS: This one-day training will also add a few $$ to your salary as well.
If you decide to go ahead in the same field, get your self prepared to get 7 in each IELTS or relevant score in PTE which is basic requirement to get admission in Diploma of Nursing and after you complete Diploma you can go ahead with Bachelors and then Masters and Ph.D.
Can we make a lot of money being in Nursing Field?
In my opinion, you can make money in any profession only if you are passionate about what you do..! So if anyone thinks that he wants to be a nurse, only because I want to make a lot of money then it would be the worst thing anyone can do to themselves. Working as a nurse means overnight shifts, seeing people in pain, passing away or whatnot. So in short, if you are passionate enough to serve people and make a little difference in their lives then don’t wait anymore 🙂
