Posted on : August 30, 2020 1:21 pm

Students need to get Student Visa Extension if their existing student visa expires before the completion of the course. This could be because of a few reasons like course suspension, reduced study load, failed subjects, expanded research application period or joining in a new course.

If your visa is expiring before you can finish your course, you should submit a new student visa application to the Department of Home Affairs before your existing visa expires.

What did you need to do for a Student visa Extension?

  • Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)
  • Proof of Health OSHC (Overseas Student Health Cover) for the duration of the visa.
  • Medical Examination
  • English language necessities
  • Financial prerequisites

As per your visa country and education provider, the documentation prerequisite may fluctuate. Student Visa Extension are comparative but at the same time different to applying for your initial Student Visa.

Student Visa Extension in Australia

Technically, you can’t extend a visa! That implies you can’t extend the validity of your current visa.

Thus, to continue studying in Australia you will need to undergo the entire student visa application process. To avoid a last-minute surprise, it is suggested you apply at least 3 to 4 months before your current visa expires.

  • In case you’re applying within Australia, you’ll be granted a Bridging Visa A (BVA). It permits you to legally live in Australia while your visa is processing and will become valid once your existing student visa expires.
  • In case you’re applying outside Australia, you’ll need to hold up till your student visa application is approved before re-entering Australia.

Find the right college or university – Enrollment!

When you’ve picked which field of study, you’re fascinated in pursuing further, you must do research institutions and their offerings programs. Would you like to change universities or even take a shot at considering an alternate city in Australia?

If you are starting in a new field, you may grab the opportunity to take on a short course to try it out. Or on the other hand, if you’re certain you want to incorporate a second field of aptitude to your portfolio, you can seek after a second college degree. If you decide to take a short course, it ought to be with a CRICOS registered provider to conform to your visa conditions.

Most universities in Australia similarly give the choice of completing an Honors year. In case you’re enrolled in a three-year Bachelor qualification, generally, you’ll have to add an extra year to undertake a research project and complete a postulation. If you’re trying a four-year Bachelor qualification, you’ll likely need to keep up a credit or refinement normal.

In this way, first, extend, enrol, or re-enrol in a course and get your CoE from your preferred college of choice. The CoE report you need to connect to your new student visa application.

Thus, when your student visa application is ready to submit, you can apply online. When you’ve lodged your student visa application, the Department of Home Office will mail you a letter of acknowledgement, along with a copy of a Bridging Visa (BVA).
