What is a Temporary (Graduate) Visa?

The Subclass 485 Visa, also known as the Temporary Graduate Visa, enables international students who have recently graduated to extend their stay in Australia. There are four available streams, the Graduate Work Visa, Post-study Work Visa, Second Post-study Work Visa, and Replacement Visa. The length of time a student can stay in Australia depends on the stream they select. The Graduate Work visa can last between 18 months to 4 years, while the Post-study Work visa can last up to 4 years. To be eligible for the visa, students must be present in Australia and have completed their course within the last 6 months. Both visa options provide the opportunity to live, work or study in Australia temporarily. When applying for the 485 visa, you have the option to bring along family members such as your spouse, dependent child, or parents, as well as a de facto partner or same-sex partner, to live with you in Australia.
