Calculate your estimated VPT score

Complete each section using the information currently shown in your SkillSelect EOI and the Victorian ROI information you intend to provide.

1

Visa and EOI Readiness

These checks do not add points to your VPT total.

2

Nominated Occupation

Search by occupation name or six-digit ANZSCO code.

Only occupations available in the current subclass 190/491 dataset are shown.

3

Age and English

Use your age and English level as claimed in SkillSelect.

4

Experience in Your Nominated Occupation

Select the experience band that applies to your nominated occupation.

5

Highest Education Level

Select the highest qualification claimed in your EOI.

6

Partner Skills

Victoria awards 50 points only when all three published conditions are met.

All three must be true: 10 SkillSelect partner points claimed, partner included, and partner occupation is a current Victorian priority occupation.
7

Current Skilled Employment in Victoria

Only current skilled employment earnings in Victoria can receive these points.

Keep the two points systems separate. Your Australian SkillSelect points determine visa eligibility. Your VPT score ranks your Victorian ROI. They are not added together.
Two different calculations

Australian points and Victorian VPT points are not the same

01

Australian SkillSelect Points

Used by the Australian Government to determine eligibility for a points-tested skilled visa. Applicants generally need at least 65 points.

02

Victorian Points Test

Used by Victoria to rank Registrations of Interest for subclass 190 and 491 nomination. It has no fixed pass mark.

What your VPT score does and does not mean

No fixed pass mark

Victoria ranks ROIs from highest to lowest during each invitation round. A particular score is not a guaranteed threshold.

Priority is separate

A priority-industry occupation may be ranked within a separate pool, but it does not receive extra numerical VPT points.

Eligibility still matters

You must still meet Australian visa eligibility and the final Victorian nomination requirements when the program opens.

Common questions

Victorian Points Test calculator FAQs

Is the Victorian Points Test the same as the Australian skilled visa points test?

No. The Australian Government points test is used for skilled visa eligibility and generally requires at least 65 points. The Victorian Points Test is a separate ranking system used for Victorian Registration of Interest selection. The two scores must not be added together.

Is there a passing VPT score for Victoria?

No. Victoria has not set a fixed VPT pass mark. Registrations of Interest are ranked against other applicants in the pool during invitation rounds.

Does a Victorian priority occupation add extra VPT points?

No. Priority status is a separate invitation pathway. It does not add numerical points to the VPT total.

How does the calculator treat exactly eight years of experience?

Victoria’s published table lists 6–7 years and more than 8 years, but does not clearly allocate exactly 8 years. The calculator therefore shows a provisional score range instead of inventing a result.

Does the result guarantee a subclass 190 or 491 invitation?

No. The result is an estimate based on the information entered. Invitation outcomes depend on the competing ROI pool, nomination places and current Victorian requirements.
