You meet the Balance of Family Test if:

At least half of your children and stepchildren are eligible children; or

The test also counts relevant stepchildren and adopted children and cannot be waived for compelling or exceptional circumstances.

Can I Add a Family Member After Lodgement?

Potentially. An eligible family member may be added before a decision using Form 1436 where the relevant requirements are met. A family member added after lodgement must be in Australia when added to the application.

Can the Sponsor Change During Processing?

Potentially. A replacement sponsor must meet the applicable requirements and be formally approved.

What Happens if the Visa Is Refused?

Home Affairs will provide the refusal reasons in writing and advise whether review rights are available. The visa application charge is generally not refunded simply because the application is refused.

Can Subclass 884 Be Extended?

No. You cannot extend the existing Subclass 884 visa or simply reapply for another 884 to continue the stay.
