BEFORE YOU START

This is not an ordinary salary calculator.

Victoria assesses earnings from current skilled employment. Your regular pay can differ from the amount you may declare in an ROI.

Why could my ROI earnings be different?

Victoria uses eligible earnings from current skilled employment as one factor in selecting Registrations of Interest (ROIs). Your annual salary can differ from the amount Victoria allows you to declare—for example, where you work part-time or casually, receive overtime, or work in multiple jobs.

This estimator shows the calculation clearly. For complicated employment it marks results as illustrative and requiring official verification, rather than giving an unsupported guaranteed ROI amount.

01Check your ROI earnings situation

Only eligible employment in the correct Victorian location can be counted. Salary itself does not establish nomination eligibility.

For 491, employer location must be in designated regional Victoria. A virtual office does not qualify.
This is your current job, which may differ from your nominated occupation. Check ANZSCO classification ↗

02Enter your gross pay details

Enter amounts before income tax. Do not include mandatory superannuation unless it is mistakenly included in the figure you enter below.

A$
A$
Only subtract amounts already inside gross pay: overtime, allowances, mandatory employer super, bonuses, reimbursements, etc.
A$
Only qualifying penalty pay, sales-role commissions or salary sacrifice not already included. Same pay period as gross pay.
If penalty rates are included, use an actual pay period (weekly, fortnightly, etc.), not an hourly figure, as Victoria instructs.
Use the normal full-time hours for your role, not an assumed standard.

For casual work with variable hours, Victoria asks for the latest eight weeks of pay and hours. Contractor and casual results here are illustrations until checked against Victoria's official calculator and evidence. Official calculator ↗

EMPLOYMENT TYPES

Different work patterns. Different calculations.

The estimator accounts for your pay period and applicable work hours. These are transparent illustrations, not an imitation of Victoria's unpublished adjustment logic.

01

Full-time employees

Convert eligible periodic wages to an annual amount. Employer super and non-claimable payments are excluded.

02

Part-time employees

Annualise pay and scale to the normal full-time hours for that role. Confirm the adjusted amount officially.

03

Casual employees

Adjust for the documented casual loading. Variable-hours employees should use the latest eight weeks' earnings and hours.

04

Contractors and unpaid leave

Use actual documentary records; the official authority must assess eligibility and the amount claimed.

EVIDENCE CHECKLIST

Can you prove the salary you claim?

Victoria verifies earnings if an applicant is invited. These are documents to prepare—not items to upload to this calculator.

The official department can request additional records. Keep source documents accurate and unaltered.

NEXT STEP

Earnings are only one part of Victoria's ranking.

Age, English, occupation, qualifications and other factors also contribute. Once you have verified your claimable earnings, check how they fit within Victoria’s complete points framework.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Victoria ROI earnings calculator FAQs

Is this the same as a Victorian salary or take-home-pay calculator?

No. This tool estimates annual employment earnings for Victoria’s skilled nomination Registration of Interest (ROI). It does not calculate income tax, net pay or market salary rates.

Can I claim earnings if I earn less than $80,000?

Victoria does not set a minimum earnings requirement for nomination. The Victorian Points Test currently awards no earnings points below $80,000, but a valid lower income may still be declared if the job meets the relevant rules.

Does part-time pay count in a Victorian ROI?

Potentially. Victoria adjusts part-time remuneration to full-time equivalent hours. The estimator offers an illustrative conversion; verify the figure using Victoria’s official calculator before lodging your ROI.

Can I include overtime, allowances, super or bonuses?

Mandatory employer super, overtime, allowances and most non-sales bonuses cannot be included. Some penalties and sales commissions may qualify. Do not double-count eligible income already included in your gross wage figure.

Can I combine earnings from two Victorian jobs?

No. Victoria says to claim only the highest-paying eligible skilled job. Calculate qualifying jobs separately and do not add their salaries together.

Do casual workers and contractors use the same formula?

No. Victoria removes casual loading and asks variable-hours casual employees to use their latest eight weeks. Contractor remuneration is assessed on supporting records. For these cases this page shows illustrative estimates and directs you to confirm the official amount.

Can offshore applicants claim Victorian salary points?

No. If you are living overseas, Victoria does not require employment earnings in the ROI. Other eligibility and invitation requirements still apply.

Do salary-related VPT points guarantee a 190 or 491 invitation?

No. Victorian Points Test results are comparative ranking factors and not a pass mark or promise of an invitation. SkillSelect and nomination eligibility are separate requirements.
