Meeting 65 points does not guarantee a WA invitation. Current WA ranking may consider residence in Western Australia, occupation sector, EOI points and EOI submission date.

Every claim must be supported by valid evidence when the nomination application is lodged.

Selecting both Subclass 190 and 491 requires care.

Under current WA settings, an applicant eligible for both will generally receive a Subclass 491 invitation first because it produces a higher EOI score. Select both only if you are prepared to accept the provisional pathway.

The EOI records key details such as your visa subclass, occupation, skills, points, employment, study and WA residence. WA may verify these claims with employers and education providers.

Wait for a WA Invitation

An EOI is not a visa or state nomination application. WA ranks eligible applicants against other candidates and the available program allocation.

Lodge the WA Nomination Application

Under the currently published settings, invited applicants have 28 calendar days to lodge the WA nomination application. The current non-refundable WA nomination application fee is AUD200. These WA program settings may change.

Receive Home Affairs Invitation

If the WA nomination is approved, WA records the nomination in SkillSelect. The applicant then receives a Home Affairs invitation to apply for the intended visa. WA nomination does not guarantee visa approval.

Lodge the Visa Application

The current process gives the applicant 60 days to complete the Home Affairs visa application. Home Affairs separately examines the points, skills, health, character and other visa requirements.

Meet WA Settlement Commitments

WA-nominated applicants agree to live and work in Western Australia. Applicants outside WA currently agree to:

  • Move to WA within three months of visa grant
  • Register their arrival
  • Live and work in WA for two years
  • Complete requested settlement surveys

Applicants already living in WA agree to register the visa grant and continue living and working in the state for two years.
